Thank you for taking time to learn more about Sciences Programs.

The Sciences Programs at AUM is deeply rooted in the University’s mission. Sciences mean dynamic learning and forward-looking education. Students are supported holistically on their way to becoming professionals in their fields, who make a difference in their communities and for the individuals they serve.

The Faculty of Science comprises two departments: The department of Basic Sciences and Humanities, which supports all faculties' programs at AUM by covering courses in chemistry, physics, mathematics, and humanities to all students. The department is an interdisciplinary faculty that bridges students' basic skills into their main programs.

The Department of Biology and Biotechnology offers a bachelor degree of Science in Biology and Biotechnology. It prepares students for advanced studies in Biology, Biotechnology, scientific research, education and a variety of other biology related professions. Moreover the department new unique curriculum includes a track to prepare our students for an opportunity to increase their admission process to medical schools in the states by offering a pre-medical courses required by medical schools.

The Faculty of Science implements an interdisciplinary and integrated minor program (CLIMASP / Climate Change and Sustainability Policies) offered to students of various programs including Biology and Biotechnology. It has become member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (ICUN), to enhance scientific networking and to provide new internship opportunities to Science students interested in nature conservation and sustainable development.

All science labs are well prepared by offering hands-on training with up-to-date equipment. The programs deliver a quality educational experience that helps students gain knowledge and skills needed to excel in their careers.

The faculty prepares students with the education, team-based learning, training, creative thinking, innovation, communication skills, leadership and the support they need to meet present and professionals' future demands.

Our emphasis and goals are to provide students with ethics and dynamic learning environment, providing connections to the community.

The Bachelor degree program in our faculty is accredited by the Jordanian Higher Education Accreditation Commission (HEAC). Recently the faculty is working on strategic plan for its academic programs to be accredited by the (NEASC) in the United States of America in order to maintain its excellence in Sciences education in Jordan and the abroad.

I do appreciate your interest in the AUM – Sciences Programs and looking forward to see you in our faculty.

Vision & Mission

Mission

The Faculty of Science prepares students in their professional disciplines with an emphasis on scientific research and applications. This mission is fulfilled by a broad based, scientifically strong education, which enables the students to enter all areas of their profession upon graduation and to adapt to changes that may occur during professional life. By the end of the program, the graduate will be conversant with the wide range of topics relating to the natural sciences, be able to communicate effectively and be able to appreciate the professional and social role of the scientist. The faculty tries to foster a learning environment enhanced by faculty who encourage leadership, independence, self-respect, promotion of justice, and compassion in students. This is dependent on a sound scientific knowledge base, well developed expertise, critical thinking capabilities, moral reasoning, and communication skills.

Introduction to the Biology and Biotechnology Program:

The Department of Biology and Biotechnology at AUM offers new and exciting opportunities for students to discover a variety of professions in the fields of scientific research, education, health care, industry, sustainable land use, and environmental management. The department presents all fields of biology and biotechnology as dynamic products of ongoing research efforts and demonstrates the relevance of basic biological knowledge to practical real-world problems.  The undergraduate program has been developed to be most relevant to actual needs by including novel courses which familiarize students with the current and potential applications and introduce opportunities that are arising worldwide with the advent of the biological revolution.
