The American University of Madaba (AUM) hosted a visit from Mr. Rohit Nepal, the Deputy Chief of Mission, on Monday, October 21, 2024.
Mr. Nepal was welcomed by Eng. Azzam Shweihat, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Mamoun Akroush, President of AUM, along with a delegation of esteemed academics and department heads. During the visit, Prof. Akroush provided an overview of AUM’s key milestones and strategic initiatives, emphasizing the university’s commitment to academic excellence, community engagement and internationalization. He highlighted AUM’s significant deliverables to fulfill the required tasks of accreditation from the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).
Following these discussions, a roundtable meeting was held with AUM students who recently participated in a cultural exchange program with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). Organized by Sijal Institute, the program, titled "Raise Your Voice Through Photo Voice Projects," focuses on women’s empowerment and is currently in its second phase. The exchange has provided a platform for students from both universities to engage in workshops, visits, and interactive sessions, fostering dialogue on women’s identity and cross-cultural understanding.
The visit concluded with a tour of AUM’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the Engineering Laboratories, Fashion Design Workshop, Sports Complex, and the University Swimming Pool.
