احتفلت الجامعة الاميركية في مادبا اليوم الأربعاء ٥ اذار ٢٠٢٥ بعيد ميلاد جلالة الملك عبدالله الثاني ابن الحسين المعظم وبرعاية كريمة من محافظ مادبا السيد فيصل السميران الذي حضر بالنيابة عنه مساعد محافظ مادبا السيد راكان العدوان.
ورحب رئيس الجامعة الأميركية في مادبا الأستاذ الدكتور مأمون عكروش بضيوف الحفل مشيرًا من خلال كلمته إلى الثقة التي وضعها الملك الحسين رحمه الله في جلالة الملك عبدالله منذ صغره، مؤكداً على دور جلالته في الوطني والعربي والحضاري كنموذج للشباب العربي.
ولفت عكروش إلى المواقف التاريخية لجلالته تجاه قضايا الأمة العربية، منوهًا إلى كيفية رصد ومتابعة العالم بأجمعه إلى تحركات جلالته السياسية والإنسانية داخل الأردن وخارجه، بالإضافة إلى جهوده المستمرة في دعم أهل غزة ونقل الأطفال للعلاج في الأردن.
من جهته أكد النائب عيسى نصار الكرادشة على دعم الأردنيين لثوابت جلالته الثلاث: لا للتوطين، لا للتهجير، لا للوطن البديل، ووقوفهم مع جلالته بأن يتم إعمار غزة دون تهجير أهلها.
وحضر الحفل الذي اقيم في مسرح الجامعة رئيس مجلس أمناء الجامعة المهندس عزام شويحات، ورئيس بلدية مادبا عارف الرواجيح، والعين محمد خريبات الأزايدة، وعدد من مدراء الدوائر الإدارية والأمنية في المحافظة ونواب واعيان سابقين وابناء المجتمع المحلي ورجال امن عام، ومجموعة من أعضاء الهيئتين التدريسية والادارية في الجامعة والطلبة.
وتضمن الحفل فقرات شعرية وفنية من القاء طلبة الجامعة والأكاديميين بالاضافة لعرض فيلم قصير تكريمًا لهذه المناسبة كما قدم مجموعة من أطفال مدرسة ابن تيمية "مادبا" فقرة فنية تفاعل معها الحضور ونالت على اعجابهم. وفي نهاية الاحتفال تجول الحضور في معرض صور يلخص انجازات جلالة الملك عبدالله الثاني ابن الحسين المعظم.
The American University of Madaba (AUM) celebrated the birthday of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, under the patronage of the Governor of Madaba, Mr. Faisal Al-Smeiran, who was represented at the event by Assistant Governor of Madaba, Mr. Rakan Al-Adwan.
AUM President, Prof. Mamoun Akroush, welcomed the guests and, in his speech, highlighted the trust that the late King Hussein placed in His Majesty King Abdullah II from a young age. He emphasized His Majesty’s national, Arab, and cultural role as a model for Arab youth.
Prof. Akroush also referred to His Majesty’s historic stances on Arab issues, noting how the entire world closely follows his political and humanitarian efforts both inside Jordan and beyond. He also highlighted His Majesty’s ongoing efforts to support the people of Gaza, including facilitating the transfer of children for medical treatment in Jordan.
For his part, MP Issa Nassar Al-Karadsheh reaffirmed the unwavering support of Jordanians for His Majesty’s three key principles: "No to resettlement, no to displacement, and no to an alternative homeland." He also expressed solidarity with His Majesty’s stance on rebuilding Gaza without displacing its residents.
The ceremony, held at the university’s theater, was attended by the Chairman of AUM’s Board of Trustees, Eng. Azzam Shweihat, the Mayor of Madaba, Aref Al-Rawajeeh, Senator Mohammed Khuraibat Al-Azaideh, along with several administrative and security officials from the governorate, former MPs and senators, members of the local community, public security officers, faculty and administrative staff, and students.
The event featured poetry recitations and artistic performances by AUM students and faculty members, as well as a short film in honor of the occasion. A group of children from Ibn Taymiyyah School in Madaba also presented a performance that was well received by the audience.
At the end of the celebration, attendees toured a photography exhibition showcasing the achievements of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein.
