احتفلت الجامعة الأميركية في مادبا يوم الاثنين، 10 آذار 2025، بيوم الشجرة من خلال فعالية خاصة أقيمت تحت رعاية محافظ مادبا السيد فيصل السميران، والذي ناب عنه في الحضور مساعد المحافظ السيد راكان العدوان. وجاءت هذه الفعالية تأكيدًا على التزام الجامعة بتوسيع المساحات الخضراء وتعزيز الاستدامة البيئية، حيث تم خلال الحدث زراعة عدد من الأشجار داخل الحرم الجامعي، استمرارًا لنهج الجامعة في الحفاظ على البيئة وتعزيز التوازن الطبيعي.

 من جانبه، اكد رئيس الجامعة الاستاذ الدكتور مأمون عكروش على ان هذه الفعالية تشكل جزءًا من نهج الجامعة الأمريكية في مادبا الهادفة إلى زيادة الرقعة الخضراء داخل الحرم الجامعي والمناطق المحيطة به. 

وقد سبق للجامعة تنفيذ مشاريع زراعية متعددة، شملت زراعة 600 شجرة على الطريق المؤدي إليها، بالإضافة إلى مشروع يهدف إلى تحريج نحو 150 دونمًا بزراعة أشجار الزيتون والنباتات الطبية. ويعكس هذا الحدث حرص الجامعة على ترسيخ مفهوم التنمية المستدامة والمسؤولية البيئية، من خلال مبادرات مستمرة تسهم في تحسين البيئة المحلية وتعزيز الوعي البيئي لدى الطلبة واعضاء الهيئة التدريسية والادارية وأفراد المجتمع. حضر وشارك في الحفل عدد من اعضاء الهيئة التدريسية والإدارية ومدراء الدوائر في المحافظة والمجتمع المحلي. 

The American University of Madaba celebrated Tree Day on Monday, March 10, 2025, with a special event held under the patronage of Madaba Governor Mr. Faisal Al-Sumairan, represented by Deputy Governor Mr. Rakan Al-Adwan. This event reaffirmed the university’s commitment to expanding green spaces and promoting environmental sustainability. As part of the celebration, several trees were planted on campus, continuing AUM’s efforts to preserve the environment and enhance natural balance. AUM President, Prof. Mamoun Akroush, emphasized that this initiative aligns with the university’s ongoing efforts to increase green spaces within the campus and its surrounding areas. The university has previously undertaken several agricultural projects, including the planting of 600 trees along the campus road and a reforestation project covering 150 dunums, focusing on olive trees and medicinal plants. This initiative reflects AUM’s dedication to sustainable development and environmental responsibility, fostering continuous efforts to improve the local environment and raise awareness among students, faculty, staff, and the wider community. The event was attended by members of the faculty and administrative staff, as well as directors from local government offices and members of the community.
