استضافت الجامعة الأميركية في مادبا، يوم السبت 8 آذار 2025، سعادة سفيرة اليونان في الأردن، السيدة إريني ريغا، في زيارة تُعَدّ الثانية لها إلى الجامعة، حيث كان في استقبالها رئيس مجلس أمناء الجامعة، المهندس عزام شويحات، الذي رحب بها في رحاب الجامعة، معبرًا عن شكره وتقديره لهذه الزيارة التي تعكس عمق العلاقات الأكاديمية والثقافية بين الجانبين.
كما رحب رئيس الجامعة، الأستاذ الدكتور مأمون عكروش، بالسفيرة، وقدم شرحًا تفصيليًا عن الجامعة، رؤيتها، أهدافها، والبرامج الفريدة التي تقدمها، مشيرًا إلى أن نسبة توظيف خريجي الجامعة التي تبلغ 95%، وفي بعض التخصصات تصل إلى 100%. وأكد أن هذه النسب المتميزة تعود إلى جودة التعليم التي يحظى بها الطلبة، بالإضافة إلى التطوير المستمر لبرامج الجامعة، من خلال إجراء مقارنات ودراسات على برامج الجامعات العالمية لجعلها مواكبة لمتطلبات سوق العمل. كما أشار عكروش إلى برنامج الدراسة في الخارج الذي تتميز به الجامعة، حيث يُعَدّ اختياريًا، ويتم بنفس الرسوم المحلية التي يدفعها الطالب في الجامعة.
وتحدث مساعد رئيس الجامعة لشؤون الاعتماد وضمان الجودة، المهندس مجدي الديات، عن اعتماد الجامعة وبرامجها في الأردن، وعن حصولها على موافقة هيئة التعليم العالي في ولاية نيو هامبشاير الأميركية لمنح الدرجات العلمية. كما أشار إلى أن الجامعة حصلت مؤخرًا على الترشح للاعتماد من هيئة نيو إنجلند للتعليم العالي (NECHE)، وهي واحدة من أعرق مؤسسات الاعتماد الأكاديمي الأميركية، ما يعكس جودة مخرجاتها الأكاديمية وتميّزها على المستوى العالمي.
كما تمت مناقشة سبل التعاون بين الجامعة الأميركية في مادبا والسفارة اليونانية، بالإضافة إلى عدد من الجامعات اليونانية، لتعزيز فرص التبادل الأكاديمي والثقافي.
ومن جانب السفارة، حضر اللقاء كل من نائب السفيرة، السيد أندرياس سبيروبولوس، والأستاذ الدكتور خريستوس ميخالاكليس، رئيس مجلس إدارة مبادرة "الدراسة في اليونان".
واختُتمت الزيارة بعرض فيديو تعريفي عن الجامعة الأميركية في مادبا، تبعه جولة في مرافق الجامعة ومختبراتها، حيث اطلعت السفيرة والوفد المرافق لها على الإمكانيات الأكاديمية والتقنية التي توفرها الجامعة لطلبتها.
The American University of Madaba hosted Her Excellency Mrs. Irini Riga, the Ambassador of Greece in Jordan, on Saturday, March 8, 2025. This marks her second visit to the university, where she was welcomed by AUM’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Eng. Azzam Shweihat. He expressed his gratitude for the visit, emphasizing the strong academic and cultural ties between both parties. AUM’s President, Prof. Mamoun Akroush, also welcomed the ambassador and provided a detailed overview of the university’s vision, objectives, and distinctive academic programs. He highlighted AUM’s impressive graduate employment rate, which stands at 95% and reaches 100% in certain fields. Prof. Akroush attributed these high employment rates to the university’s commitment to academic excellence and the continuous development of its programs. He explained that AUM conducts comparative studies on international curricula to ensure its programs align with global job market demands. He also mentioned the university’s unique Study Abroad Program, which is optional and offered at the same tuition fees as those paid by AUM students locally. Eng. Majdi Al-Dayyat, President Assistant for Accreditation and Quality Assurance, spoke about the university’s accreditation in Jordan and its degree granting authority from New Hampshire higher education commission/USA. He also noted that AUM is a candidate for accreditation by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE)—one of the most prestigious accreditation bodies in the United States—further affirming the university’s commitment to academic excellence and global recognition. The meeting also included discussions on potential collaborations between AUM, the Greek Embassy, and Greek universities to enhance academic and cultural exchange opportunities. Representing the Greek Embassy, the meeting was attended by Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Andreas Spyropoulos and Chairman of the "Study in Greece" Initiative, Prof. Christos Michalakelis. The visit concluded with a presentation video about AUM, followed by a tour of the university’s facilities and laboratories, where the ambassador and her delegation explored the academic and technological resources available to students.
